Pat Baird is the Head of Global Software Standards at Philips, where he leads international efforts to develop regulatory frameworks and standards for software and artificial intelligence in healthcare. With over two decades of experience in product development, including roles as software developer, engineering manager, and Director of Risk Management at Baxter Healthcare, he brings deep technical and regulatory expertise to his work. Pat describes his role as “Policy Engineering,” focused on identifying and addressing the unmet needs of regulators and developers through standards, white papers, and training. He actively contributes to global regulatory harmonization as co-chair of committees under CTA and WHO, and participates in ISO/IEC SC42 AI standards development. He holds an MBA from Marquette University and a Master’s in Healthcare Quality and Patient Safety from Northwestern University, and has published and presented over 50 papers on product development and regulatory science.
